{"id":114,"date":"2022-05-10T15:20:00","date_gmt":"2022-05-10T18:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theskeletoncurse.com\/?p=114"},"modified":"2026-09-27T15:27:21","modified_gmt":"2026-09-27T18:27:21","slug":"minor-super-villain-001-fang-gow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theskeletoncurse.com\/?p=114","title":{"rendered":"MINOR SUPER-VILLAIN 001: FANG GOW"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: arial\">(New Fun 001, 1935)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0f1419;white-space: pre-wrap\"><span style=\"font-family: arial\">Unfortunately, the first DC super-villain is Fang Gow, a pulp-style Yellow Peril sort who vexes adventurer Barry O&#8217;Neill , his pal Inspector LeGrande and the nation of France.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial\">Fang Gow persists until 1941, and inevitably participates in some entertaining stories, including a half year or so in which he is near death and the story relocates to Tunisia where he kidnaps a famous doctor to treat him, but ultimately he&#8217;s just a warmed-over version of all the Fu Manchu knockoffs who bedeviled the pulps.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial\">His finest moment might just be his death, in fact: captured in French Guiana and on a ship en route to London and trial, he takes a death-simulating drug and requests burial at sea.
